1950 Ed Monk Sr. Art Glein 47

A rare opportunity to own a slice of original Seattle cool. Fully restored and “Plug-n-Play” 47’ Ed Monk Sr. - Art Glein 1950 47’ Double Cabin Cruiser NW Lake Union Dreamboat.

Simply, the most charming classic yacht you’ll find. Anywhere. We think of her also as... a home office quarantined in the middle of downtown Seattle or when cruising the Sound or even the Sea of Cortez. Or a floating downtown waterfront condo. Or a dreamlike tiny waterfront home crafted by a legendary NW yacht designer.

Estralita is a custom “one off”, one of a kind, Lake Union dreamboat and one of Ed Monk Sr’s most unique and sought after designs. Just Wiki him and you’ll find her featured. You know... that all wooden classic dreamboat that everyone drools over and you... own. She’s been spared no expense in her build and renovation and is completely updated to stand the test of time into... the future.

Here are some pics, specs, and deets. If you are interested, feel free to contact me and we'll arrange a showing. She’s with a broker but if you purchase through me it’ll save that fee. Completely “Plug n Play” 47 foot NW Lake Union Dreamboat moored in a covered slip downtown Seattle. She's one of a kind and comes with everything you need, including transferable covered Lake Union moorage and a comprehensive maintenance contract. It's hard to break down this level of cool into bullet points, but we'll try:

FORM - Estralita has been lovingly and expertly restored by hand, given the respect she deserves as a piece of Northwest yachting history. The fact that she was originally built without sparing expense is reflected in her fully restored white oak decks, teak and mahogany interior and cabin, true teak and holly dole floors, double planked clear cedar planking, extra heavy built oak ribbing, original brass and bronze fixtures, and everything else that a lady probably shouldn't mention. She truly is one of a kind, as her dovetail transom (rounded rear deck) and classic teardrop side rails are unique amongst Ed Monk's premier designs. You can learn more about Monk's history here: https://classicyacht.org/research/classic-motoryacht-designers-ed-monk-sr

FUNCTION - A lady should never reveal her age, and Estralita has been upgraded to feature modern elements throughout, including navigation & instrumentation using wireless iPad/Android, complete solar and led, upgraded wiring and plumbing throughout, a 3.5k Outback inverter/charger with remote, Koehler 3.5k generator, 12 deep cycle house and start batteries for extended cruising, high speed internet to the slip and smart screens throughout -- all of it integrated into her classic design.

STYLE - Host a salon in her salon, which features an original captain's table that can seat up to 10, all new upholstery, built-in teak entertainment hutch, sofa, and plenty of storage. Enjoy fireworks and sunsets while lounging on the back deck, or craft a delectable feast in the full, original 1950-style kitchen, featuring original tile, teak cabinetry and pantry, restored stainless refrigerator, restored cast iron cook stove, and a stainless surround.

COMFORT - The full and original 1950s bathroom features a cast iron and porcelain tub, shower, porcelain sink, original pink and green tile, and has been upgraded with a European Separett composting toilet. Both staterooms features porthole lighting and built-in teak cabinetry; the mid-cabin room includes a full-sized memory foam bed, dresser and a large closet, while the forward cabin room includes a queen/king memory foam bed, an extra bunk, a small closet, and a quarter head/bath. Salon features a pullout futon/settee. Sleeping capacity of 6-7.

VERSATILITY - Estralita is primed and ready to be your next floating office, condo, or waterfront tiny home base as you cruise the Sound or circumnavigate the globe in classic style. If you want to stay local, you can paddle board or kayak from your back deck, explore the nooks and crannies of the Puget Sound, sail the Whitehall sailing dinghy, or simply kick back with a cool drink on a hot summer day and watch the world sail by. If you want to explore the world, Estralita is built for extended blue water cruising, featuring a 450-gallon diesel tank, a single Detroit 671 that sips about 1-2 gallons/hour. She also holds 150 gallons of fresh water, supporting weeks of showering or dish scrub.

SOME SPECS: 1950 47 foot Ed Monk Senior / Art Glein Design/Build double cabin cruiser. 12’9 beam (width) and 6’8 draft (depth below water). She’s very “deep” and heavy weighing in at just under 20 tons. Which means she cruises incredibly stable and low - she rides like an early 50’s Corvette. Registered with Northwest Classic Yacht Association.
